In science, isothermal refers to processes or reactions that occur at constant temperature. In isothermal processes or reactions the following differential results:

dT = 0

meaning that differential changes in the temperature T of the system do not occur. The term ‘isothermal’, from the French isotherme, from is- + -therme, supposedly, was first used in 1826. [1]
