|In engineering, Schott diagrams are the illustrations of the vacuum and electrostatic experiments undertaken by Otto Guericke, in the 1650s, as published by the efforts of Gaspar Schott, in his 1657 Mechanics of Gas Hydraulics and later in the 1672 Otto Guericke’s New Experiments on the Magdeburg Vacuum Space, generally detailing Guericke’s quest to make an artificial vacuum, so as to publicly disprove Aristotle's, i.e. Parmenides’ 485BC postulate, that vacuums are an impossibility in nature; the diagrams are shown below: |
